Wetumka Exposes How Rural Oklahoma Justice Systems Protect Public Ed Predators
Both within school walls and throughout Oklahoma’s rural communities, child sexual abusers often hold all of the power and influential relationships that protect them from accountability.
Tiny Wetumka, Oklahoma, is teaching us just how difficult the self-paved road to justice can be for students abused by educators. Despite a 4-year fight and a recording of Brent McGee confessing to his abuse of a male student, his accusers, who range in age from teenagers to 50s, have faced resistance at every step.
And now, with a federal, civil lawsuit pending against McGee, his superintendent wife and the school district, and following his August arrest on eight (8) felonies related to child sexual abuse, the criminal case against McGee appears to be wrought with irregularities, suspiciously incomplete evidence collection and court records, and unjustifiable exceptions in his favor.
Is rural justice inept or corrupt? Join us as we discuss V1SUT’s latest reporting.
