Ungrooming an Entire Town: Two Survivors Reveal How Mass Grooming Allowed the Boys of Wetumka to be Abused for Decades
All parents and public educators need to hear what our two guests will have to say about the epidemic of child sexual abuse in our schools and communities. Imagine, as a K-12 student, being surrounded by teachers, coaches, administrators, neighbors and even parents who believe the very best about the coach who is sexually abusing you. By grooming everyone, including co-workers, parents and administrators, molesters leave their victims powerless. Unknowingly, entire districts and towns are systematically groomed to defend these preferential predators and silence student victims.
If you have ever been shocked to learn a teacher or coach at your child’s school or the school where you work was fired, arrested or stepped down following an accusation of inappropriate behavior with a student, you’ve been groomed.
For the past year, V1SUT has been investigating a 30+ year trail of child sexual abuse perpetrated by Wetumka Public Schools’ teacher, coach and athletic director Brent McGee, whose wife was the district’s longtime superintendent. Our first article featured the story of Casey Yochum, a McGee survivor and warrior in the fight to protect children. Our latest article tells Justin Cote’s story, another McGee survivor who bravely came forward within minutes of McGee’s recent arrest. These men will help all to understand how a child perpetrator may very well be the most beloved, helpful, revered educator in town. Join us.
