Breaking News: Today! Lawless OK Legislature Just Flipped SB 646 in Attempt to Take Over State Board of Ed
No Notice, No Rules, No Respect for Oklahomans
Just minutes ago, the UniParty leadership within the Oklahoma Legislature, without notice to voting members, completely replaced the language within Senate Bill 646 which previously involved the Oklahoma Judicial Security and Privacy Act of 2023. The bill has been replaced with a subversive power grab involving the State Board of Education.
The new measure expands the Board of Education from seven (7) to ten (10) members, gives the legislature power to appoint four (4) of those members and the governor power to appoint five (5). It also gives these appointees control of the Board’s agenda, a privilege reserved under the State Constitution for the State Superintendent of Public Instruction as the only member of that body elected by We the People.

The influence of voters over Oklahoma’s public education system will be greatly reduced, and the power of an increasingly corrupt legislature will be increased. The move is believed to be in retaliation for State Superintendent Ryan Walters’ neutral stance on SB 224, as reported earlier today.
OEQA Will Hold Oklahomans' Lifelong Data Under SB 224: Why You Should Be Concerned
·Senate Bill 224 (SB 224) is the most controversial within Oklahoma’s current legislative session. Under the guise of workforce development, it will establish a massive database full of information on every Oklahoma child and their parents/caregivers, from cradle to career:
The new and unimproved SB 646, now authored by Senator Lonnie Paxton (R-Tuttle) and Representative Dell Kerbs (R-Shawnee), is being rushed to the State House floor for a vote after a suspension of House voting rules by Speaker Kyle Hilbert (R-Bristow). It is unlikely House members will be aware of the change prior to voting.
Is this the democratic process Oklahomans deserve? Call or message your House Representative.

Good Grief. Before we know it the legislature will be the autonomous power of Oklahoma without any redress whatsoever. This clearly makes the point that the legislature is growing more afraid of the voter, and has to grab all the power possible before it is taken away from them. The more power the legislature grabs, the more worried and frightened the voter should be.
What bill or bills originally contained this language? I’d like to follow the evolution as to how this made it to the floor and who previously voted for and against.
