Good Grief. Before we know it the legislature will be the autonomous power of Oklahoma without any redress whatsoever. This clearly makes the point that the legislature is growing more afraid of the voter, and has to grab all the power possible before it is taken away from them. The more power the legislature grabs, the more worried and frightened the voter should be.

Great point. Only the panicked resort to such tactics.

What bill or bills originally contained this language? I’d like to follow the evolution as to how this made it to the floor and who previously voted for and against.

Also look at HB 1491. The attempted substitutions in SB 646 appear to be a combination of language from HB 1491 and HB 1054. https://www.oklegislature.gov/cf_pdf/2025-26%20ENGR/hB/HB1491%20ENGR.PDF

It appears to have started with HB1054 as originally introduced by Rep Rosencrants (D-Norman). Link - https://www.oklegislature.gov/cf_pdf/2025-26%20INT/hB/HB1054%20INT.PDF

If you look at the timeline, just after the HB 1054 went to the Common Ed committee on Feb 4 where it remained, Gov Stitt abruptly removed and replaced 3 State Board of Ed members. Link to article that recaps those events: https://v1sut.substack.com/p/ok-gov-stitt-gives-backroom-ultimatum

The online legislative log does not yet reflect today's changes and the resurrection and editing of the original language. Thoughts?
